Thank you so much for your interest in supporting this outreach to the people of Haiti.
I am so excited to tell you how my life is changing the last few months.
On February 8 I received a text message about an opportunity to serve in a small ministry in Carefour Haiti, which is a suburb of Port-Au-Prince. By Wednesday I was on an airplane to Haiti. I spent two weeks assisting a small mission/church which is led and run by HAITI FAMILY MINISTRIES.
HAITI FAMILY MINISTRIES was started by Lloyd and Darlene Smoker over 23 years ago. During this time they built a community based ministry, focusing first and foremost on relationships. One particular value Haiti Family has is to encourage, empower and equip Haitian people to lead and bring change. Their church is a cell/home group model which allows this Haitian leadership to emerge. Five years ago Lloyd and Darlene handed off the leadership to a Haitian Pastor and his wife, while they stayed involved from the U.S.
January 12th the earthquake struck and Haiti will be changed forever. HAITI FAMILY MINISTRIES was hit particularly hard as 17 people in their ministry school died because the building collapsed. This included the Haitian pastor and his wife. Lloyd, Darlene and the Smoker family have again invested in their Haitian community. The efforts include medical clinics, demolition of old buildings, removal of rubble, and building temporary housing.
After much thought, prayer and council from my friends I informed Haiti Family Ministries that I am willing to serve a minimum of three months with them in Haiti. I will be working with this organization to rebuild Haiti, both physically and spiritually. On March 19th I flew to Haiti to start this three month journey, and my desire is to stay teachable and flexible so God’s will can be done.
You can support me in a number of ways. First through your prayers: Haiti is living under tents, tarps and sheets…that is no different for me. I will be living in a tent with many of the conditions the rest of the country is enduring. Second: E-mails and facebook encouragements put a smile on my face. We do have internet but our electricity comes and goes, but I find a time to check usually daily. Third: for wisdom and discernment: I do feel this is a new chapter of my life opening up, my time in Haiti is a part of it but not all of it. Prayers for what the next steps are. Fourth Financially: My budget for three months is $4,500, this includes travel, ministry support and living expenses.
I have set up a paypal account which deposits the money directly in my account. I have found that this is the easiest way to contribute. The link is below. Another possibility is through snail mail: My friend will pick up any checks and deposit it for me. My address is: 166 Willow PL, Broomfield, CO 80020
HAITI FAMILY MINISTRIES is not set up as a U.S. 501C3 so donations will not be tax deductable.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts, prayers and financial support.
